Biography

Andrea Peruzzi is an Italian documentary and travel photographer, born in Florence in the early 1980s and now working between his native city and the countries he documents around the world.

Growing up surrounded by the Tuscan countryside and Florence’s Renaissance heritage, he began photographing as a teenager with simple point-and-shoot film cameras, drawn to the historical and natural places around him. In 2010, he bought his first digital SLR; the camera that set him on the path toward professional photography.

Andrea travels “with a camera and a backpack,” seeking out ethnic minorities and communities that have preserved their cultural identity against the pressures of globalization and mass tourism.

His reportage work has taken him to Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, Ethiopia, China, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Jordan and beyond, where he tries to build genuine relationships of trust and mutual respect with the people he photographs — connections that inform the intimacy of his images. This approach is distilled in his personal tagline:

“See the nation through the people’s eyes.”

His work has been recognized in major international competitions, among them the Overall Winner title at the JRNY World Travel Photography Awards 2025, a category win at Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) 2023 with “The Soul of Petra,” 3td Winner at ColorPro Awards and same at All About Photo Awards, reFocus Awards. His photographs have been exhibited internationally, including a solo exhibition for Leica Italia at Leica Store Florence (“Days of a Renaissance,” on Iraq) and group exhibitions such as The Independent Photographer, EyeShot Magazine and Special Guest at the Venice Photo Lab at Palazzetto Tito,  an institution of the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice.

Alongside his fieldwork, Andrea shares his experience through photography workshops and private lessons in Florence, helping other photographers develop both their technical skills and their approach to documentary storytelling.
